You really think so?
There's so much information in this thread that's just plain wrong.
And more that's just random knowledge and doesn't have a practical use.
Not to mention this thread is very old. And because of that, a lot of the stuff that was true back then isn't anymore. (and the first few pages is what people are going to read, if anything)

About the casting-without-exiting-an-emote thing
My friend and I tried it with a Monk and a Paragon ( <--- )
The monk had Healer's Boon and Holy Haste and took Infuse Health, the Paragon had the shout "Help Me!", we went to Temple of Balthazar to test it. With Healer's Boon, Holy Haste and "Help Me!" active, I started dancing, then casted Infuse Health, I didn't exit my /dance emote but the skill still activated; and I do believe this was done without the activation of a 40/40 set. It was just for kicks and giggles so we didn't take any serious detailed notes or anything, no screenshots either, but you guys could go try it yourselves.
Just saw Redfeather's post. Nicely done =P

Maybe a smart moderator could update the original post, since the poster may not be aware this thread has been ressed once more.
One little tid bit I'll part with that helped me make money, try the Killroy quest in Sorrows Furnace, but do not open any of the chests. Once you reach the end and the quest updates Flag your Heros/Hench into the farthest reagions, they will likely die. Now go and open the 3 free chests, you should get between 2 and 6 drops from each chest, all purple.
I made a good bit of cash on Major vigors and some rare skined purple weapons this way.

Flaggin heroes. use heroes and henchies to defeat normal monsters, then flag them away (normaly double the radar?) and then kill the boss. you will get the drop and cut off any chance of the npcs stealing your loot. - now awaiting nerf.
|
OK, someone just HAD to mention it on a thread Gaile is watching.. uhg. Well, tho this is a nice and viable trick, its wildly erratic. You need a build that can survive the boss attacks while your h/h are moving away. You need this same build to actually kill it once they are gone. Also, sometimes when you flag the h/h, the boss will be attacking one of them and in turn he will follow that h/h which makes this whole trick annoying at times.
If you have a MM in the group, it can either hurt or help as most of the time, the Minions do not follow their master when he is flagged and stay to fight, but this can hurt as often they will kill the boss before the h/h are far enough away.
All in all, I've done this a couple hundred times and have only been awarded about 40 greens. which isn't much. The number of them that are actually worth something.. maybe 3?! Most are just hero items. Tip: use your mission Map to flag h/h, flag them on the red dot line, they go much further back and are on a safe path.
To add to the thread: The Lightbringer Elite skill in the Chantry of Secrets counts towards the Elonian Skill Hunter title. Don't know why as non of the GW:EN elites count toward anything, but it does. hmmm

I find it amusing that you're concerned Gaile might be aware of a trick that has been around since Nightfall release. It's actually a pretty straightforward and easy farm strategy. You flag your henchies far away (bringing Devonna or a "Charge!"-wielding Hero if you're having problems pulling them away) and then solo the boss. I can't think of any real drawbacks to the build, except that there are a few bosses for which certain primaries can't solo.
Oh, and to contribute to this thread, if favour is ever lost while you're observing a ressurection shrine, the statue therein crumbles. (I haven't confirmed this since the favour system was changed, but I suspect it hasn't changed)

Things I've discovered recently (which means that everyone else knew them ages ago)
- I can use henchies in Tombs. I used to think this was a no hench area like fow/uw/urgoz/deep/doa. I'm now having a good time exploring this area alone.
- Talking to Rastigan upon entering fow does not cause him to Leeroy. I've known this for awhile, but I'm still surprised at the # of groups that say "DON'T TALK TO RASTIGAN!!!!!" when we enter.
- Buy a fow entry scroll from the scroll trader to enter. They are usually cheaper than 1k.

The Xunlai Chest is level 24 to be a reference to Dungeons & Dragons difficulty checks (24 is a standard chest Difficulty Check).

But following that logic, how would you explain Cure Hex vs Backfire? For these monks who had the experience will know when you're hexed with Backfire and you try to remove the hex via Cure Hex(Cure one ally of a hex and for 50....102 health), you actually receives the damage from Backfire Before you get the heal from Cure Hex. Maybe Cure Hex was made that way in order for the heal actually to work, but from what you said above it doesn't make to much sense.

Warriors who wear platemail armor are 98% of the time W/Mo by profession, 3/8 of the skillbar consists of mending, power attack and endure pain, they also use swords, but the requirement is usually not met.

Consider that there are at over 100 zones in Cantha (source: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Locations_(Factions)). If your radar really displayed 1% of the total world map, each zone would be, on average, no larger than a single radar.
I suspect your estimate of the radar's size is off by several orders of magnitude.
|
For vanqing there are only about 40 zones in Cantha, forgot the exact number.

Paragon Skill "Fall Back" does speed up (slightly, but noticable) Leah Stone, the NPC you need to save in the Abbaddons Mouth bonus.
Hey, anything to speed that up is a good thing.

You can identify your own backpack, although it shows no value.
You can dye all packs and bags, although that has no known purpose.
You can use Ctrl+F10 to show the frame creation time rate. The lower the graphic, the better.
You can use Ctrl+Shift+H to hide the GUI.
If you assign the 'Lose target' button to the F key (Target self) since all skills that can target you will target you automatically if you don't have a target, you will have two buttons in one.
Remember that Rituals are no spells, you won't interrupt them with something that interrupt spells.
You can strafe and run to avoid proyectiles, that includes most arrows and spell proyectiles.
You MUST wait for the pet to use the attack before activating another, or the new attack will replace the old one, wasting energy.
(This should be fixed to queue them, though)
You'll know the pet uses the attack because of the damage, the faster attack (pet attacks are not limited by the 2-second attack rate) and specially because the pet will make its offensive cry (roar).
Prophecies Titans are as easy in normal mode as they are in hard mode.
MMs, beware of Maguuma Beetles. They bring Verata skills.
Snowmen are fleshy.
Maddened Spirits are fleshy too.
Monks are no necessarily the first enemy to target. Examples of that are shiro'ken monks, bad protectors that mostly protect themselves; or Kirins, that are just bad smitters/protectors..
ALL skins can be found inscribed, excepting /bonus items, the Icy Dragon Sword and those that are unique to a green weapon.
Legendary Survivors are not people that have never died, nor necessarily better players.
Read the NPC texts. All of them, at least once. Most of the dumbest questions made by newbies are always answered by NPCs.
You can save up to 2..3k by talking the 'Path of the...' quests after ascending in Prophecies. That can be made with all professions.
Look upwards. See the upper parts of the places you visit. You'll see a lot of interesting things looking at the sky, the trees and the ceilings.
